With only thirty employees, a sense of family stands behind everything we make and sell, and how we operate.

For example, our "conference room" is an old quilting table set up in a living room off the kitchen. We suit ourselves to mothers’ schedules. We each take turns making lunch for the rest of the staff. (When a prospective employee interviews with us, the conversation usually turns to food.)

We follow the lifestyle we espouse. It seems to work better that way.

As a result, most of the Mariposa family have been with the company for much of its two decades. We’ve even had the same UPS man for years; he greets Lola, our Portuguese water-dog mascot, with a special biscuit every day.

Part of our strength is that our people come from many diverse fields — like the worlds of fashion, banking, museums, and even the Peace Corps.

And unlike most companies, even very small ones, Mariposa functions in an atmosphere of total trust. Our work space is sunny, airy, and open, just as our books are open to any employee. It’s simpler, and much more comfortable for everyone.

At the same time, we’ve embraced technology so we’re free to give you more personal service, providing full support for our customers. If you telephone us, you’ll get a living, knowledgeable human being on the line who can actually answer your questions. Or else, outside of business hours, leave us a message — or, even better, pop us an e-mail — and you’ll get a prompt reply.
