COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Mexico
PRONUNCIATION: bre-yan-ta (watch for accents)
DATE INTRODUCED: 1998
BACKGROUND:
- Aluminum serveware and accessories individually cast and finished at our expert foundries using the traditional sandcasting technique.
- Each piece based on original clay sculptures created for Mariposa by designer Michael Updike.
- Designs specifically highlight each foundry’s special skills and abilities.
- Distinguishing surface characteristics range from antiqued or high gloss, to abundantly sculpted or cleanly polished expanses.
CARE AND USE:
- Always handwash your Brillante in warm sudsy water soon after each use (also before using them for the first time) and towel-dry immediately.
- NEVER PUT BRILLANTE IN THE DISHWASHER OR THE MICROWAVE.
- Coat Brillante lightly with vegetable oil or spray when serving salads or salty foods.
- Avoid prolonged storage of acidic foods. Standing water will cause staining.
- Warm to 325°F (140°C) for hot foods. Freeze or chill for summer entertaining.
- Cutting directly on any metal surface will scratch the finish.
- We recommend that you hand wash your wood inserts and cheeseboards in warm, sudsy water and towel-dry immediately. Periodically apply an even coat of mineral oil to the surface with a soft cloth. Allow the oil to soak in for a few minutes then remove surface oil with a clean, dry cloth. Allow the oil to soak in for a few minutes then remove surface oil with a clean, dry cloth.
- Brillante exceeds FDA requirements for aluminum serveware.
- Slight cooling and buffing marks are a natural result of handcrafting.
- Occasional use of a non-abrasive metal polish will revive Brillante’s soft luster (our producers recommend Simichrome, which we offer for purchase).
